Hawaii Forest and Trail Kohala Country Falls

Hawaii Forest and Trail Kohala Country Falls

The Hawaii Forest and Trail Kohala Country Falls adventure shows you exactly what is meant by the Hawaiian proverb “there is life in the rain.”  Rain gives Oahu the abundant waterfalls and dazzling countryside of Kohala.  There’s no other place in Hawaii where the important story of water is more obvious than the terrain of Kamehameha, which you will view during this Big Island Eco-Tour.  In its never-ending rotation, water continues to form a vivid landscape of streams, cliffs and valleys.  These same waters will reveal the culture and history of Kohala to your tour group during these Big Island Tours.

The Hawaii Forest and Trail Kohala Country Falls tour starts with a magnificent drive that displays the dramatic contrast between the flourishing green country of Kohala and the dry-side resort area.  During your trip, you’ll travel to the Kohala/Kona coastline above lava flows from Mauna Kea, the Kohala Mountains, and Mauna Loa.  Many times, you will be able to spot splashing spinner dolphins from the shoreline, and in the winter, you may just see some humpback whales during these Big Island Activities!  The Big Island Eco-Tours will take you past the charming plantation towns of Kapa’au, site of the life-sized state of King Kamahameha the First, and Hawi.  When your Big Island Tour group reaches the end of the road, you’ll enjoy a short stop at the notable Kohala Mule Station where you can observe one of Hawaii’s most fantastic coastal vantage points.  Then the real fun starts with a short, bumpy off-road drive in our 6WD Pinzgauer on an ancient road over secluded ranchland to our great trailhead.

Once you step from the Pinzgauer, you’ll take a trip back into the early 20th century, when the local plantation owners started developing and building the Kohala Ditch Trail.  This tril brought necessary water to the vast sugar can fields.  During these Big Island Activities, you’ll travel the one and a half mile loop trail and get the chance to observe tunnels blasted from solid rock, learn the story of the amazing effort it took to build the system that stretches over forty miles, and walk over the aqueduct on two different bridges.  Your Hawaii Forest and Trail Kohala Country Falls tour group will get the inside scoop about Hawaiian history, too, as you visit a former taro farming location situated just off the beaten path.  Then this Big Island Eco-Tour leads you to seven beautiful waterfalls and lets you take a refreshing dip in the pool if you wish.  Or you can just relax under a magnificent rainwater cascade!  With its astonishing green valleys, mountain panoramas, pasturelands, and abundant water, this Big Island Tour is the perfect way for all aged visitors to experience Kohala’s proverb of water.

These Big Island Activities include deli style lunch with juices, soft drinks, and bottled water
