Hawaiian Walkways Saddle Road Explorations
Saddle Road Expeditions offered by Big Island Activities Discount offers participants the option of moderately strenuous hikes or easier walks. Saddle Road is closed off to most rental cars, creating the perfect place for Big Island Eco Tours. During this Big Island Tour, you’ll be able to experience a wide variety of terrain including lava flows that are pocketed with old forests that are home to an abundance of indigenous birds. Hikers tend to fall in love with Saddle Road Explorations, as these areas have unique attractions for photographers and birders. These, like our other Big Island Activities, are fully equipped and supplied.
Hawaiian Walkways is a proud member of the notable Hawaii Eco-Tourism Association. The company was the proud recipient of the “Tour Operators of the Year” award in 2002.

Special Notes
|
This Big Island Eco Tour includes rain wear, light backpacks, walking sticks, beverages and food (macadamia nuts, deli-style lunch, cookies, bottled water, juice, and soda). One naturalist guide is assigned per ten hikers. NOTE: The footing on hardened lava is uneven and rocky, so closed-shoe toes are required. Due to the region’s climate, you are encouraged to bring a light jacket or sweatshirt in preparation for cool, misty weather.
